Swell Time

Moving forward, just not sure where we're going, but at least we're having a swell time when we do it.

The taper

The taper.

Taper- the week or so before a big road race, when a runner significantly cuts down their weekly running mileage.

This is an interesting occurrence in the running community.  Many runners do not know how to behave during this time.  They find they have a sudden increase of energy because they are not using this energy during an early morning run.

Runners behavior will vary.  Some will take the time to catch up on projects they have been neglecting during their 12 week training program.  Others will ignore the training plan completely and just keep running.  And others just begin to act off because of the high level of energy they now have.

Caution to non runners, during this time many runners will discuss race strategy and other useless bits of information that do not translate into the non-running world.
