Swell Time

Moving forward, just not sure where we're going, but at least we're having a swell time when we do it.

Radio noise

We listen to music because it can soothe the soul and make us feel.

The other day I was in the car driving to volleyball practice and the only thing music made me feel was annoyed. Instead of listening to the word and melody all I heard was noise. Frantically, I pushed the pre-programmed buttons on my radio switching from rock, to country, to oldies, and indie rock.

My finger hovered over the scan button as I thought about picking a song from my playlist on my iPhone.

And then I stopped searching.

My hand moved over to the OFF button. I stopped listening to the radio and the noise and opted to listen to life.

I chose cars engines over My Chemical Romance. My ears perked up and I heard the wind and notes drifting from open windows of neighboring cars.

In the moment of listening to the noise of the world around me, I found peace.
