Moving forward, just not sure where we're going, but at least we're having a swell time when we do it.
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the future. My twenty-year mark in the military is near. This opens the possibility of retirement. It is an opportunity to try something new.
As I consider my future I recognize the possibilities. Jim set a great example for me. When he left the service instead of getting a job Jim enrolled in school. He is now a semester away from earning his BS in Marine Biology.
Though I’m still not completely sure what my plan is I think I know what I want to do. I have had moments of peace and clarity, times when the universe seems to answer my questions. Unfortunately reaching that goal will not easy because I have to contend with fear and other distractions. But I remember what Garth Stein wrote in The Art of Racing in the Rain, “In racing, they say that your car goes where your eyes go. The driver who cannot tear his eyes from the wall as he spins out of control will meet that wall; the drive who looks down the track as he feels his tires break free will regain control of his vehicle.”
I guess once I figure it out I just need to know where to look.
