Swell Time

Moving forward, just not sure where we're going, but at least we're having a swell time when we do it.

Negotiations cut short

The other day the family and I were in a store doing a little shopping. While we were there I overheard a little girl negotiating with her parents. She was going to get her haircut and she was trying to convince her parents to let her cut her hair really short. Both mom and dad told her that she wasn’t allowed to cut her hair as short as she wanted. Mom insisted that her hair needed to be long enough to at least put into a ponytail so she could pull it out of her face for her soccer games.

In my head I was rooting for the girl to get her hair cut the way she wanted, but I knew the parental veto would ultimately be in effect. I left wondering when this little girl would start being able to express herself. My hope is that when she does it is with her parent’s support and not an act of defiance.
