Swell Time

Moving forward, just not sure where we're going, but at least we're having a swell time when we do it.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness, it is such a simple and beautiful thing. In order to forgive you simply stop being angry with someone. I just wonder why it is so hard to do? Why is it easier to be mad at someone than to let it go?

Over the past few days I’ve really been giving this some thought. I’ve debated about the most effective way to forgive (either by telling the person you forgive them or just stop being mad). Though I haven’t really come to much of a decision regarding the best method of forgiveness one thing I realize is that forgiving someone is much less about the forgivee and much more about the forgivor.

While you can argue that the forgivee benefits because they have been forgiven, I really think it’s for the forgivor.

Holding onto anger is plaque that builds up in the heart. It makes a person bitter. Anger consumes so much energy and time. It wraps its ugly arms around you and won’t let go until you make it go away. And forgiveness is how you force it away.

So I’ve drafted a letter. It’s addressed to no one in particular. But it is my first step towards letting go.

Dear (fill in the blank),

I am writing this letter to let you know I forgive you.

In the past you have done some really shitty things to me and my family. We can’t change what happened, but I am ready to stop being angry with you. I am ready to move forward.

I don’t know if this will change our relationship. Maybe that doesn’t really matter. This is for me to find peace in my heart.

So with that, I forgive you for.
