Moving forward, just not sure where we're going, but at least we're having a swell time when we do it.
February 9th the military made a change to the policy regarding women. Women are still excluded from combat, however they are now allowed to serve in closer proximity to combat.
Being an active duty women and mom, changes like this make me pause. I applaud the equality piece, however these changes make me wonder how the quality of life for active duty moms will be impacted. I wonder if there are some women who may shy away from entering the military now because of the fear of being closer to combat. And I also wonder if there will come a time when women will be required to register for the draft.
There are always unintended consequences to these big decisions. We have to look at how things will be impacted in 10-20 years to really know what we are dealing with.
